This system is more versatile for your child if you're willing to invest in multiple games for it. If there are only 1 or 2 games, then it can become boring more quickly -- but hey, don't we all wish our kids got bored FASTER with video games anyway? The educational value is moderately good -- pattern recognition, some critical thinking, etc. It's a good idea. Consider buying a battery charger and rechargeable batteries for it if you don't want to spend a fortune on batteries over the years!
